Dr Taylor Abel is a Physiatrist and he specializes in electrodiagnostic medicine and nerve conduction studies at Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center. He can test nerves to see if there could be impingement causing pain and he specializes in caring for patients with spine pain and offers ultrasound guided injections and helps create treatment plans and lifestyle modifications to help patients with pain feel better.

Back to Hiking and Snowshoeing After An SI Fusion
Marylee is a Leadville resident who loves to hike. She started having pain in her SI joint. She had debilitating pain from arthritis in her low back that started to affect her ability to hike and be active. She chose Dr Desai to help her get back to snowshoeing and hiking by getting an SI joint implant. As his oldest patient, At 84, Marylee had a great experience and she is back to doing the activities she loves.

Dr Desai explains how you get arthritis in the SI joint. Trauma, falls or even degenerative changes can cause pain in the low pack - SI joint. He discusses a newer surgery with SI implants that can be used to relieve the pain and restore function. The SI joint implant can stop the rotation in the SI joint and therefore eliminate pain permanently.
