Tips for Living Your Best Life from Steve Hess, Chauncey Billups and Tim Howard
Panorama Orthopedics and Spine Center is proud to be associated with names like Chauncey Billups, Steve Hess and Tim Howard. They recently spoke on behalf of Panorama at the Colorado Orthopedic Society meeting and shared their tips for living the best life.
Steve Hess, after a 20 year career with the Denver Nuggets as the team’s strength and conditioning coach, he joined the Panorama as the Chief Performance officer where he heads up the wellness programs at Panorama. Always energetic and inspirational, Steve presented on what it takes to live your best life and be the best that you can be. In order to be the best you can be, one must eat well, work out, get enough sleep and do something that they are passionate about. In addition, Steve says that one must evaluate themselves at the end of each day and ask, “Was I my best today?” At the beginning of each day, one must tell themselves, “ Today, I will be better than I was yesterday!”
Chauncey Billups, also a part of the Panorama team, as a part owner in our sports performance center and the name behind our Big Shot basketball Academy, shared his inspirational story of hard work and determination that helped him take his basketball all the way to the NBA, where he was a five-time NBA all-star. He talked about how when he was young he played both basketball and football, but in the 8th grade he realized that he wanted to go to college and his mom told him that she didn’t know how he was going to do that, as they could not afford it. With that realization, he then made the hard decision to quit football and commit himself soley to basketball, as that is the sport he was better at. His commitment to the sport, his passion and dedication earned him a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Colorado, from there he went onto play in the NBA. It was in his third year as an NBA player that he seriously committed himself to the lifestyle that would allow him to take his career to the next level. “It was then that I started training harder, hired a chef and started eating better,” said Chauncey. It was that year that he went onto win the finals with the Detroit Pistons and he was named the MVP.
Tim Howard, the goalie for the Colorado Rapids soccer team, also had an opportunity to share his story. He gave tips on the importance of taking care of yourself though eating well and surrounding yourself with good people. He talked about how important it is to, “choose carefully who you want to associate with, train and do business with.” In addition, he stressed the importance of being willing to lead by example and put in the work in order to perfect your craft.
