Posted on September 28, 2020

Panorama is growing!  Dr. Michael Lersten is just the right addition to help people feel better and do more. As a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician, he specializes in interventional spine, sports medicine and pain management.  He also has a special interest in regenerative medicine and orthobiologics, which is the use of biological substances to aid in the healing process of orthopedic injuries. Dr. Lersten is excited to offer a holistic approach to patient care, which ia focused on diagnosing the root cause of a condition in order to improve symptoms and overall long-term well-being.

Dr Lersten completed his undergraduate education at the University of Iowa, then attended the University’s Carver College of Medicine.  Following his medical degree he completed his residency in PM&R at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.  He went on to complete his first fellowship in Interventional Spine at the Stanford University School of Medicine, followed by an additional 4-month fellowship focusing on the use of ultrasound and orthobiologics at the esteemed Bodor Clinic in Napa Valley, California.

As an athlete himself, Dr. Lersten is passionate about helping patients achieve a better quality of life through fitness and non-surgical pain management.  He believes the use of orthobiologics is an exciting new frontier in medicine that is rapidly evolving to provide patients with more minimally invasive treatment options to bring them relief and comfort.

Dr. Lersten has provided medical support for many athletes of various skill levels throughout his training, from weekend-warriors and high school athletes up to the professional level.  He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Spine Intervention Society, and the North American Spine Society.

When not caring for patients Dr. Lersten enjoys powerlifting, reading a good book, building his record collection, trying new wines with his wife, and attempting to break 90 on the golf course.

Dr. Lersten sees patients at Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center’s North offices.  Both of which are in located in Westminster  – at Bryant St. and the St. Anthony North Medical Pavilion.
