Dr. Grossman went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and then completed a one year orthopedic surgery trauma fellowship at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Grossman was born in Ukraine but his mother decided to move with the rest of his family to the United States when he was five. She hoped he would have a different childhood from the one that she had. After first settling in Saint Louis, Dr. Grossman’s mom then moved the family to Pittsburgh so that she could complete her dental clinical experience requirements to practice in the United States. Dr. Grossman has known since high school that he would go into medicine, as a wrestler he witnessed doctors always helping athletes get back to their sports and has always found the bio mechanics of injury and healing fascinating.
Dr. Grossman was particularly interested in the field of orthopedic trauma surgery because he liked that he never had to sell himself or a surgery to patients – he would be helping them heal from injuries that required surgical interventions. Dr. Grossman has always enjoyed the hospital environment and working with patients in a care and relationship manor. He feels it is his duty to meet them in the hospital and not only act as their surgeon but their counsel, to help the patient and their family through the surgery and recovery process in some cases even preparing them for the ways their lives might change as a result. Dr. Grossman is cost conscious from training and does work-up and presents information to his patients guided by sound principles, he prides himself on not performing any frivolous surgery. In the hospital, Dr. Grossman aims for optimal communication throughout all teams – from general and specialty surgeons to physical and occupational therapists until the patient is recovered.
Dr. Grossman is specifically trained in trauma surgery of the pelvis and acetabulum fractures, peri-articular fractures, and non-union care.
Dr. Grossman was married in 2009 and has three children. Outside of work, Dr. Grossman and his family enjoy skiing, hiking, and fishing and are excited to be in Colorado to enjoy all of its outdoors.
